Memorial Day Fun in the Backyard

Yesterday was Memorial Day and we had a great holiday. Now that the
kids are older, we've been searching desperately for backyard toys
that would provide them hours of entertainment and development for all
three. Quite a challenge! Thanks to Costco and the Pumpkin Patch
consignment store, we got this Step 2 flow sink and a playscape (not
shown).

The kids had so much fun we had to find a creative way to entice them
indoors for dinner. Miles wants to do everything like his big sisters
and has to be in the mix too. Sometimes he forgets he's not as big
yet, but it doesn't stop him from trying!

2 months

Miles is 2 months old today! It is so hard to believe, he is growing so fast yet it seems like he has always been a part of our family. I realized I had not dedicated a day just for him on our blog so I thought now would be a perfect time. He truly is such a wonderful little guy. He is smiling and talking now and is such a happy baby. He has his daddy's dimples (just like the girls). He is very laid back and puts up with alot of noise and sometimes not so gentle loves from his sisters. He's a wonderful sleeper, sleeping most nights between 8-10 hours, we really can't complain about anything!

First week home

We've been home for a week now and it has gone much more smoothly than I would've thought. Although, we do still laugh about our first night at home. See, my perfect plan was that I would take care of Miles during the night, Roy would sleep so he could function at his new job, and mom would sleep so she could get up with the girls while I slept a few extra hours. Well, Miles, like alot of babies, nursed great in the hospital but that first night at home was a bit of a challenge. He ended up screaming and waking both of the girls up. So what went from a well laid plan turned out like this...While I was trying to feed and quiet Miles, mom came upstairs and rocked both of the crying girls. Roy then took Miles so I could try to get some sleep. Once he calmed him down, mom called him in to take Annalisa. He took her downstairs, mom was in Miles room with Malea, and by then Miles had woken back up crying again in our room. Mom and Malea then came in our room to lay down with Miles and me...then he started crying again so mom took Miles out and Roy and Annalisa came back into our room with Malea and me. By then, it was time for Roy to get up and go to work. Needless to say, none of us got much sleep, but it's rather comical to look back on the rotating bed!

Other than that, it really has gone well. The hardest part, for me at least (besides the obvious sleep deprivation), is not being able to help out with the girls. I feel like my physical recovery from the c-section has been much easier than it was the first time, but I still can't pick the girls up or get down on the floor to play with them. They are at an age where they really don't understand that. Gigi has done a great job taking care of them (and Roy and me for that matter) but I look forward to playing with them again. The girls still just love and adore Miles. They give him countless kisses and rush over to him anytime he makes a peep (which isn't very often...he's really a great baby just like the girls were). If you ask them to check on baby brother they automatically go over to where he is sleeping, it's really rather cute.

The girls has some special daddy time this weekend while Gigi, Miles, and I unpacked the nurseries...

Welcome Miles Andrew Milton

For those of you who haven't heard the recent crazy and exciting events in our life, let me take a brief moment and fill you in...
We packed our moving truck in Dallas on Thursday July 31 in 100+ heat (go Roy and dad and mom!) and we headed to Austin late that night to unload the truck on Friday. I thought those two days were long and hard...but things have just gotten crazier since then! Roy started work on Tuesday, Malea got a sinus infection and hives, Wednesday Annalisa, mom, and I all got a nasty stomach virus that left us unable to do just about anything for 3 solid days. None of us could keep any food or liquid in our stomach. Needless to say, little unpacking happened, we went into survival mode. By Saturday we were all feeling a bit better, Roy and I were able to get out and run some errands. The whole day I kept feeling some weird feelings in my stomach, but I didn't think much about it. That night we dropped the girls off at my parents house with the plan being to come home, relax, get some sleep, and maybe unpack one of the two nurseries. Well, that plan was quickly derailed as we ended up driving to the hospital after much persuading from nurses in Dallas and Austin. The whole way there I told Roy I was just having Braxton Hix contractions and to not be mad at me for having to drive down there...well, 2 hours later we had a baby. I was already pretty far into the labor process. They quickly got the operating room ready and me prepped and at 12:26 am on August 10 (Uncle Matt's birthday) we welcomed Miles Andrew into our family. He was 5 weeks early and a tiny little guy but he was completely healthy. They had the NICU team in the operating room to check him out but they said he was one of the first babies his age and size to avoid the nicu! They spent the entire day Sunday pumping me full of fluids, turns out I was severely dehydrated from being sick. So much so they thought something had gone wrong during the surgery or with my kidneys. Eventually everything returned to normal. We are all doing fine, we came home from the hospital yesterday, although it crossed my mind at 4 am when we had 3 crying babies that maybe Miles and I should check back into the hospital and use our last day! We did survive our first night and first day home thanks to SO much help from Gigi! Roy had to return to work today and attempt to function and there is no way I could've managed all 3 by myself! The girls are both very sweet with Miles, giving him lots of kisses and loves. Whenever he cries they run over to him and want to make sure he's okay. We could not have hoped for them to respond any better. A couple of pictures are below, we'll post more soon! Oh, and yes, he does have alot of dark hair, not sure if it's curly yet and we can't tell yet if his eyes will be the same as Annalisa and Malea.
